McCarthy Statement on House Passage of the Honor Flight Act

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on passage of H.R. 4812, the Honor Flight Act:

“It is one of my greatest honors to host Honor Flight veterans and guardians who travel from California to Washington D.C. Local volunteers and guardians with our local Honor Flights give our local veterans the experience of a lifetime as they tour the memorials that honor their service and sacrifice. I cherish the many memories walking with these heroes through the halls of the U.S. Capitol and onto the House floor where FDR gave his Day of Infamy speech the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, committing America to World War II.
“But before our veterans arrive in Washington, there is a tremendous amount of logistical planning that our local volunteers execute with precision. The Honor Flight Act calls for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to establish an expedited screening service for veterans traveling on Honor Flights. Today, the House of Representatives passed this bipartisan legislation that would streamline the process of going through airport security for our veterans and their guardians making the 3,000 mile trip.”
